NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi conducts the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS/ BDS Courses under 15% merit positions in the Medical/ Dental Colleges of India as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and will be governed by the rules and regulations specified for the same by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The responsibility of the CBSE is limited to the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of result and providing merit list to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi and participating State Governments/Universities/Institutions.
The Counselling for successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats is conducted by the DGHS and the Counselling for admission in seats under the control of other participating States/ Universities/ Institutions shall be conducted by their respective Authorities.
Note: The state pool Quota in Karnataka includes 55 Medical Colleges with 8325 Seats.
Eligibility Criteria for NEET
- The Candidate should be an Indian National.
- Minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years at the time of admission.
- The upper age limit is 25 years as on 31st December of the years of the entrance exam which shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for the candidates of SC/ ST/ OBC category.
- The Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology and English individually.
- He/ She must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for General Category (GC), 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ ST-PH/ OBC-PH category in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology taken together in qualifying examinations.
- No state eligibility criteria will be applicable for the students who take admission under 15% All India Quota Scheme.
Pattern of NEET
- The NEET consists of one paper of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
- The paper contains total 180 objective type questions of 720 marks (45 questions on each subject).
- Every question has four options with single correct answer.
- Incorrect answer/more than one answer will award 1/4th negative marks.
- Duration of the paper would be 3 hours from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm.
- Candidates can opt for Question Paper either in English or in Hindi.

AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences)
- For AIIMS, New Delhi and Six Other AIIMS like institutions located in Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Ralpur, Rishlkesh and Bhopal a separate Entrance Examination is conducted.
- There are 672 MBBS seats in AIIMS across India
- Test is conducted for 200 Marks in the Subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology
(60Qs each) and General Knowledge (20Qs), with 1/3 Negative Marking - Test is conducted in Online Mode

JIPMER
- JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research) is located in Puducherry and Karaikal.
- There are 200 MBBS seats in these campuses.
- Test is conducted for 200 Marks in the Subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology
(60Qs each) and Reasoning & English (20Qs), with no Negative Marking - Test is conducted in Online Mode

AIPVT
- All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) is conducted for admission into Veterinary seats under VCI (Veterinary Council of India) quota.
- Pattern of AIPVT is same as NEET.

KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test)
- Karnataka CET is being conducted for Engineering, Veterinary, BSc.Ag, ISMH,
B-Pharma & D-Pharma Courses - Students with biology background can attempt all the four subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology and acquire eligibility for all the above courses
- Each Subject contains 60Qs with 1 Mark each and no negative marks
- Each subject is conducted as a separate paper in different time slots for 1Hr 20min duration.

KVPY-SX
- KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Prothsahan Yojana) conducts a scholarship cum admission test every year for admission into BS Programmes in IISc (Indian Institute of Sciences) and IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research)
- The Test is conducted in all the four subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology. However, Students can attempt any 3 subjects in Part-1 and any 2 subjects in Part-2
- Students who have attended EduShrine Vaidya find it convenient to attempt KVPY with PCB as their choice.
